Customer requirements

After we contacted Matthew, we clarified further details about the project.

HYPR is the first supercar taxi booking app to operate on a subscription basis in the London area. Its fleet includes Rolls Royce, Gelentwagen, Lamborghini and other supercars, popular among wealthy young people, who prefer to rent cars rather than buy.

Matthew already had several screens designing his mobile app, so he was looking for a development team that could build the code for four independent products, as well as the logic behind and Stable infrastructure.

He also emphasized the limited time frames. We had just four months to develop the app’s MVP so the client could present it to the Transport for London (TFL) commission. It is quite difficult to book an appointment at TFL, this can only be done every 6 months. We had to prove the product and receive certification, so knowing the strict deadlines, we left no room for error.

Our challenge

During the development phase, we faced the following challenges:

• UI/UX Design : Since this is a luxury product, our team had to make the UX smooth and user-friendly.
• Detailed documentation : Due to tight deadlines, our developers needed to develop a clean, error-free code from the first try. Therefore, we need to create super detailed technical documentation and define all possible user stories and scenarios in advance.
• TFL Compliance : Our technical documentation must comply with the Transport for London Technical Solutions Demonstration Guide and the Technical Documentation Guide for PHO Applicants. Transport of London pays more attention to features related to lost and found property, complaints and compliments, vehicle details, booking records and private hire drivers.
• Four products at once : In addition to creating an Admin panel and a Registration website, we need to develop full-fledged mobile applications for Drivers and Passengers with geolocation, personal profile, time Estimated pick up time, route optimization to avoid traffic jams and make both apps work simultaneously.
• Price Aggregation Algorithm : We need to create a custom price generation algorithm to generate ride prices by analyzing multiple factors. The algorithm determines the ride price by combining the ride price, the driver’s location, the time the driver waits for the passenger, the passenger wants to extend the trip, the ride time, etc. In the case of the driver’s location too far from the passenger, we needed to develop a function that offers similar cars nearby and calculates the cost of the trip.
• Refund logic :  Since the app is targeted at the premium segment, the first project release should work without errors. At the same time, we face the problem of refunds when passengers cancel trips. In this case, the refund depends on many factors, including when the passenger called the ride, the passenger’s membership type, the driver’s location, and others.
• Hidden phone number :  Since the app’s users belong to the upper class, they respect their privacy. Therefore, we needed to hide the phone numbers of real app users and mask them with random phone numbers from the London area.
• Real-time geolocation :  The app should always display the driver’s current location using the GPS built into the mobile device. The main challenge here is choosing the right geolocation API because most third-party geolocation modules operate with latency.
• Limited resources : During this project, we often compared ourselves to the team that developed the Uber mobile app. However, unlike the Uber team, we have limited resources, including developers, funds, and timeframes, making our mission of developing premium, bug-free mobile applications almost impossible. cannot be done.
  
• Bounty programs : In this step, we need to develop the logic for HYPR’s bounty program, which includes several user groups. The app rewards some users with 100 pounds that they can use for horseback riding. Additionally, some users get a free subscription for a few months, while others get a free lifetime subscription.
